The registration is a prerequisite for the analysis of subtle surface changes on the hemangioma, that requires knowledge about the previous state of local appearance to determine the development of the disease. The registration method has to handle the partially changing shape of the hemangioma during its healing process, while typically no surrounding landmarks are available to aid the registration process. The method finds interest points in two images and matches corresponding interest points using SIFT features to determine a homography between the two images by means of RANSAC. Experimental evaluation of the robust registration are reported for image pairs acquired at the same time point and during follow-up.

Automatic Assessment of Lesion Development in Hemangioma Follow-Up Images
This thesis presents an automatic method for the assessment of the development of cutaneous hemangiomas in digital images. The overall method provides two measurements on photographs taken during follow-up examinations: (1) the current skin area affected by the lesion and (2) the percentage/area of the hemangioma showing a regression, a so-called graying. For both analyses a pixel-wise classifi...

متن کاملThe Effect of Oral Propranolol versus Oral Corticosteroids in Management of Pediatric Hemangiomas
BACKGROUND Hemangiomas are the most common benign tumors of infancy. This study evaluated the efficacy of oral propranolol comparing to oral steroids in management of pediatric hemangiomas. METHODS In North India from January 2012 to January 2015, sixty children <6 years old with superficial hemangiomas were divided into 2 groups; oral propranolol vs. oral prednisolone. All participants we...
متن کاملClinical features and management of multifocal hepatic hemangiomas in children: a retrospective study
Multifocal hepatic hemangioma (MHH) is a benign hepatic tumor that is commonly diagnosed in children with multiple cutaneous infantile hemangiomas (IHs). We present a review of all children with MHH at our institutions. Of the 42 patients, the median age at presentation of MHH was 2.5 months. Thirty-six (85.7%) patients had cutaneous IHs. Twelve (28.6%) patients were symptomatic at presentation...
متن کاملSegmentation and Surveying of Cutaneous Hemangiomas
This paper presents an automatic method for the surveying of cutaneous hemangiomas by means of a fully automatic hemangioma segmentation and a ruler visible in the images to be examined. The spatial resolution of the images is determined by computing the maximum Euclidean distance between two marks of the ruler. The segmentation of regions belonging to the hemangioma is accomplished with a pre-...
